Jennifer Lopez visits Puerto Rico with her 'superhero' Alex Rodriguez

Jennifer Lopez had her leading man by her side during an inspiring trip to Puerto Rico. The 48-year-old shared a sweet message dedicated to her boyfriend, Alex Rodriguez, on Sunday, January 7, following their trip to the hurricane-stricken island.

Alongside a photo of her and the former Yankees star gazing into each other's eyes, the singer penned: “What an amazing enlightening heartbreaking and yet hopeful day. We made it down to Puerto Rico for the first time since the hurricane and our Somos concerts. Still many miles to go....but grateful to go the distance side by side with this amazing guy.... #hesmybestie#hesmyman #hesmysuperhero.”

The Amor, Amor, Amor singer and Alex, 42, traveled to Puerto Rico 109 days after it was left devastated by Hurricane Maria to tour the island to begin allocating some of the $25 million they raised last year (via ABC News). During their trip, Jennifer and Alex met with residents and members of the community and danced with local musicians.

They are filled with joy, hope and positive attitudes in the face of disaster, and it is truly inspiring. #PuertoRico #HurricaneMaria #HurricaneRelief 🇵🇷🇩🇴."

On Sunday (January 7) — the same day as the 75th annual Golden Globes where actors and actresses wore black to stand in solidarity with those affected by injustice and inequality in the workplace — Jennifer and Alex took the same stand 3,000 miles away wearing black to show their support. In a speech, the Shades of Blue actress called for equality.

“Today is the Golden Globes in Los Angeles and a lot of women – with #TIMESUP – are standing for equality, to be treated equally, and for sexual harassment,” she said during the emotional speech. “And I stand here today in black doing the same from far away. And it’s the same thing with here in Puerto Rico – we want to be treated equally.”
