It was a big weekend for Prince Harry, who not only kicked off one of the events closest to his heart, Toronto's Invictus Games, but made his long-awaited first public appearance with girlfriend Meghan Markle. After over a year of anticipating the moment, the Suits star showed support for her royal boyfriend, sitting just a section away from him during the event. Harry watched the opening ceremony's proceedings from a more official viewpoint, alongside First Lady Melania Trump and Canada's Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

Meghan was all smiles as she cheered on the athletes in the Paralympic-style Invictus Games for wounded service members all around the world. The 36-year-old actress looked effortlessly stylish in a burgundy dress, matching leather jacket (which was draped over her shoulders) and a chic clutch. Meghan watched with excitement when the competitors entered the stadium and began the evening. She was seated next to good friend Markus Anderson, who introduced her and Harry to each other over a year ago.


The actress was whisked away from the stadium in an SUV not long after Prince Harry made his powerful opening speech. Meghan's appearance at the ceremony is a further sign that an engagement is on the cards. Harry and Meghan, who have been quietly dating for just over a year now, and are expected to make an announcement before the year ends. Up until now, they have tried to keep their romance out of the public eye, mostly avoiding being captured together by prowling photographers.

Harry, 33, is in Canada to attend the Invictus Games, dutifully fulfilling his role as patron of the Invictus Games Foundation. This is the third year that the Prince has launched the sporting event. Around 550 competitors from 17 nations were set to take part in 12 adaptive sports, with the 2017 focus being on family and friends, and recognizing the vital support they bring to competitors on their recovery journey.

It seemed only natural that Meghan cheer on Harry at his Toronto-based event. The actress is based in the city for her job, it's where production films her hit legal drama, and is off from shooting on the weekends. Earlier this month, the TV star acknowledged in a Vanity Fair interview that she and Harry would "have to come forward and present ourselves" in the future. She also admitted that they are "two people who are really happy and in love".

Harry, who makes the long jet back and forth from London to Toronto to see his girlfriend, hasn't openly commented on the details of their romance. However, he did make a coy remark during this official visit. Princess Diana's sweet son said: "It's always a pleasure to be in Canada."
