Princess Madeleine's 'warm hearted' son Prince Nicolas celebrates second birthday with new portraits

Princess Madeleine’s baby boy is growing up. The Swedish royal and her husband Christopher O’Neill’s son Prince Nicolas celebrated his second birthday on Thursday, June 15. To mark the occasion, the Swedish Royal Court released two new portraits of the royal tot, while his mom posted an additional two on her personal Facebook page.

“Happy 2nd Birthday Sweet Nicolas! We couldn't have wished for a kinder and warm hearted boy ❤,” Madeleine penned alongside the photos. Meanwhile the palace sent warm wishes to the birthday boy writing, “Today, it’s Prince Nicolas birthday. The Prince turns 2 and we wish him a happy birthday!”

Princess Leonore's little brother wore a blue button down shirt that matched his piercing blue eyes as he posed with his strawberry birthday cake that featured a number two candle in one photo and with a toy car in another. Nicholas was born on June 15, 2015 — just two days after his maternal uncle Prince Carl Philip and aunt Princess Sofia’s royal wedding in Stockholm.

Madeleine opened up earlier this year about her son’s love for books telling the Expressen, “[Nicolas] has always loved books! So when you cannot find him, then he’s sitting with a little book himself, up and down, like he was trying to look into it. It’s very fun, so he will probably be a bookworm!”
