Matt Damon is very excited about the big news that this week has grabbed Hollywood's attention: George and Amal Clooney are in the sweet waiting for twins. Although almost everyone found out Thursday thanks to a confession from a friend of the couple, Matt was one of the first to hear from Clooney himself about the pregnancy and almost broke into tears of joy.
George and Amal have made no public statements about the stork's visit, but are so excited about the good news that they could not contain themselves to share it with their closest friends. "I was working with him last fall, and he pulled me aside on set," Matt Damon explained about how he learned about Amal's pregnancy. "and I mean, I almost started crying. I was so happy for him. And I was like, 'How far along is she?' and he goes, 'eight weeks,'" he continued in an interview with ‘Entertainment Tonight Canada’.
Matt was so happy for what he had just heard that it was very difficult for him to hold back the tears. With the experience he has as a father, Damon reacted and 'scolded' Clooney amicably for revealing something so exciting that he considers was ahead of time.
"Instead of crying, I reacted by saying, 'Are you out of your mind?! Don't tell anybody else! Don't you know the 12-week rule?' Like, of course he doesn't," Matt recalled about the conversation that both had on the set of Ocean's Eight. "He replied with a 'Leave me alone' and four weeks later I asked him if everything was okay. He told me not to worry," he added.
Matt and George have a very good friendship that has allowed them to get to know each other beyond the sets. That's why the actor is sure that Clooney and Amal will be excellent parents. "I'm very excited for both of them, I have to say, she's wonderful and I think George has played the lottery in that way." "I'm thrilled for him. She's amazing. He hit the jackpot, just on every level. She is a remarkable woman. They're going to be awesome parents. Those kids are lucky." he said.
