Moonlight mix-up The very last moments of the show will needless to say be the most talked about of the evening. As Warren Beatty was joined by Faye Dunaway on stage, he named La La Land as the winner of the Best Picture Award before correcting themselves and announcing the actual winner as Moonlight. The mix-up occurred after the cast and crew of La La Land delivered their acceptance speech on stage. One of the producers of La La Land, Jordan Horowitz quickly reached out to the real winners to bring them on stage to accept the award. Director Barry Jenkins took to the microphone in a moving speech as everyone was still letting the big news sink in, and shared in part, "...To hell with dreams. I’m done with it.
