New commander-in-chief Donald J. Trump was elected the 45th president of the United States in the wee hours of November 9, 2016. President-elect Trump, 70, sealed his presidency after surpassing his opponent, democratic nominee Hillary Clinton with over 270 electoral votes. Donald took the stage at the New York Hilton in NYC's Midtown around 3 a.m. and embraced family, friends and Vice President-elect Mike Pence before addressing the crowd. During his speech, Donald commended Hillary saying she waged "a very very hard-fought campaign," and ensured that he will work to close this country's divide. "Now it's time for America to bind the wounds of division — have to get together," Donald said. Hillary Clinton delivers an emotional concession speech Following her defeat in the 2016 presidential election, Hillary Clinton took the stage on Wednesday morning in New York City to give her concession speech surrounded by husband Bill Clinton, daughter Chelsea Clinton and son-in-law Marc Mezvinsky. After thanking her family along with her running mate Tim Kaine, his wife Anne and her millions of supporters, Hillary started her speech with an apology. She said, "This is not the outcome we wanted. I’m sorry we did not win this election for the values we share and the vision we hold for our country." The mom-of-one ended her speech with an inspiring message to young people and young women with big dreams, "To all the little girls watching... never doubt that you are valuable and powerful and deserving of every chance & opportunity in the world."
