Britain's new Queen Consort's precious necklace

A favourite piece of jewellery keeps her family close to her heart

Camilla's jewellery box is a treasure trove of gold, diamonds and pearls. There are royal heirlooms (1), including pieces inherited from her late mother-in-law, Queen Elizabeth II, and many elegant love gifts from her husband, King Charles III. But one of the items that means the most to her, and which she's rarely (2) seen without, is a simple initial necklace.

While it is unlikely to be worth a great deal (3) in monetary terms, it is clearly a piece of great sentimental value to the Queen Consort. That's because it is engraved with the initials of her grandchildren. 'L', 'F', 'G', 'L' and 'E' stand for (4) Lola, Freddy, Gus, Louis and Eliza.

Camilla has two children, Tom and Laura, with her first husband, Andrew Parker Bowles. Between them, Tom and Laura have made her a grandmother five times over, and she is very close to all of the children.

Symbolising her place in their world, at the centre of her precious (5) pendant is a small circular ruby - Camilla's birthstone.
