Penelope Knatchbull

A longtime companion of both the Queen and her husband, Penelope Knatchbull, Countess Mountbatten of Burma, often appeared with them at equestrian events. She was one of just 30 people invited to Prince Philip's funeral in April 2021.

Lady Susan Hussey

Lady Susan was one of the monarch's ladies-in-waiting. She joined the court back in 1960, when she was employed to respond to letters after Prince Andrew's birth. Susan is also close to the new King Charles and godmother to his son William, the Prince of Wales.

Angela Kelly

Fashion designer Angela, the daughter of a Liverpool dock worker, served as the Queen's personal dressmaker from 2002, creating all of her outfits from day dresses to evening gowns. Angela shared a number of sweet anecdotes in her book, The Other Side of the Coin: The Queen, the Dresser and the Wardrobe. She revealed that she was the royal aide who helped to wear in the Queen's new shoes as they took the same size.

Susan Rhodes

Susan was appointed to the role of lady-in-waiting in 2017. She is married to Simon Rhodes, who is the son of the late Margaret Rhodes, one of Her Majesty's maternal cousins and a frequent playmate when she was a young Princess.

John Warren

John bonded with Her Majesty over their mutual passion for horse racing and was her trusted adviser on bloodstock. He took over the role from his father-in-law, Henry Herbert, 7th Earl of Carnarvon, after his death in 2001.

Sir Jackie Stewart

The famous former Formula One driver says that Her Majesty had little time for motor racing - "too noisy" she told him - and wouldn't let him drive her, preferring to take the wheel herself. But she invited Jackie to join her family for Christmas at Sandringham and was even spotted attending a private party in London to mark his 80th birthday in 2019.

Lady Pamela Hicks

Lady Pamela, 93, is the daughter of Lord Louis Mountbatten and the great-great-granddaughter of Queen Victoria, making her a second cousin to the Queen. She was one of Her Majesty's bridesmaids in 1947, and often supported her on royal tours.
