Harry Styles is unstoppable. At 28, the singer-songwriter is already an icon. That's because he's not only in tune with the times, he seems to be writing their melody. Harry's approach to life - be who you are, refuse to be labelled but always be kind - is admired by people across generations. His flamboyant (1), androgynous fashion sense is adored every bit as much as his albums.
Born in 1994, Harry was brought up in Cheshire in a blended (2) family of step-siblings following his parents' divorce when he was seven. He says he had a "great childhood". Some of his best memories are of singing along to a karaoke machine given to him by his grandfather.
At 16, he took part in TV talent show The X Factor. Although he was eliminated from the competition, he was chosen by empresario Simon Cowell to become a member of new boy band One Direction. The group shot to global fame, selling 70 million records and winning a host of awards over the following five years.
Handsome (3) front man Harry was a heart-throb from the start. While his boyish charm fuelled the romantic fantasies of millions, his own love life made headlines (4), especially his relationships with pop diva Taylor Smith and the late TV presenter Caroline Flack, who was 14 years his senior.
Since 2016, Harry has found himself even more in the spotlight, as he has evolved his solo career.
His first venture into acting, in blockbuster movie Dunkirk, won critical acclaim. Soft-rock albums like Fine Line and, most recently, Harry's House have been huge hits, as have his live shows, which The Face magazine describes as having an "exuberance" that is "impossible to resist."
As a performer (5), Harry's been compared to both Freddie Mercury and Mick Jagger. But when it comes to his sense of style, he quotes another British rock star, Paul Simonon of The Clash. "Pink is the only true rock & roll colour."

From classic men's tailoring to blouses and pearls, it seems there's nothing in which Harry doesn't look good. In December 2020 he became the first man to feature solo on the cover of Vogue. As a face of Gucci, he wore an outfit by that label. The fact he chose a dress only sealed his style-star status.
Now, living between the UK and US, and happily dating director and actress Olivia Wilde - a 37-year-old mum of two - Harry has the world at his feet. Whatever he chooses to put on them.
