Australian-born Chris has explained that he learned the value of money as a child, and has never forgotten that.

"I remember saving up for a surfboard when I was younger. The surfboard was 600 bucks and I saved up for a whole year with Dad's help. I didn't even want to surf on it for fear of damaging it. It taught me so many lessons about appreciation and working hard for something."

The star and his wife, Spanish actress Elsa Pataky, lead an idyllic life with their family in Australia's beautiful Byron Bay, where they have built their own mansion. The couple's kids  India, Tristan and Sasha are growing up there surrounded by nature, with a whole menagerie of pets, including horses.

Chris insists though that he doesn't want them to become spoiled. "I don't want India, Tristan and Sasha to feel like they're privileged in any way. The fact that we have money and their parents are famous, that somehow they're special, that scares me because we grew up with no money."
