big winner at
THE EMMYS

Britain’s cross-dressing comedian Eddie Izzard
has made it big in the U.S., scooping two prestigious Emmy TV awards for his
one-man show Dress To Kill. Sadly, since this was a night when the stars
do dress to kill, Eddie couldn’t be in Los Angeles for the ceremony,
depriving us of what could have been a great chance to see him pit his frocks
against some of Hollywood’s glamour girls.

from the spotlight,
received a standing ovation when he went
up for his
award

Lots of the ladies, including Jennifer Aniston
and Calista Flockhart, chose red. Brad Pitt wore a necklet bearing wife
Jennifer’s name. The American TV series The West Wing was the big
winner of the night, taking a record-breaking nine Emmys. Biggest applause,
though, went to much-loved actors Michael J Fox and Jack Lemmon, who each won
an award and a standing ovation. |
