deeply traumatised the star.

MEG RYAN’S ESTRANGED MOTHER SUSAN
speaks out in support of the actress as she faces the trauma of divorce and family break-up

Meg Ryan is reportedly heartbroken after her husband, Dennis Quaid, hearing rumours that she is involved with Gladiator star Russell Crowe, demanded she send their eight-year-old son Jack, back to be with him in the US.

The emotional upheaval which inevitably accompanies the ending of a long-term relationship and the anguish and guilt of being separated from one’s child is a situation which Meg’s estranged mother Susan Jordan, a former teacher from Connecticut, feels she is particularly well equipped to understand, having left her husband and children 23 years ago to pursue her own dreams of stardom.

“She and I are cut from the same cloth,” says Susan of her daughter Meg. “I stayed in a dead marreiage for years before finally getting the courage to strike out on my own. She is doing the same thing.”

Susan is especially concerned about the effects of the breakup on young Jack -Meg has often spoken of the devastation she felt when her mother left, describing herself as feeling “rejected” and “abandoned”-. “I worry about Jack,” says his grandmother. “I know she adores her son; I just hope he doesn’t become another victim.”.
