Working to try and put his troubled years
of drug problems and emotional turmoil
behind him, Jason is inspired by fatherhood.

Jason admits that the baby was not in his plans, admitting that “it was a shock, (but) it’s the greatest gift and asset of my life.” In the mid-90s, there were reports that Jason was abusing drugs so severely that he collapsed. But Jemma has put paid to all that. “Coming through my dark patch, this has given me a reason to get up in the morning. Now I’ve got an absolute destiny in myself.”

A hands-on father, Jason stays with Angela for half of the week and shares the responsabilities with his former girlfriend. And final proof, if needed, that Jason has embraced fatherhood with gusto is his claim, “I love changing nappies!”
EXCLUSIVE
JASON DONOVAN
on his joy at becoming
a father

In the turbulent life of Jason Donovan, this is the greatest high so far. As he works to try and put behind him troubled years of emotional turmoil and drug problems, the former soap and pop heart-throb, now 32, has become a father. Angela Malloch, who was Jason’s girlfriend for nearly a year until they broke up last autumn, gave birth to their daughter Jemma three months ago.

“I’m the luckiest woman in the world to have such a beautiful baby girl,” says Angela, who met Jason when he was doing The Rocky Horror Show: she was stage manager. “Although we may not be in the ideal situation, thankfully Jason and I are very good friends and both just want the best for our daughter.”
